Connecting Your Friendship Lamp at College

For some public networks such as college WiFi (or a shared public network), it can take some extra steps to get the lamp connected.

You will need to register the lamp with the college IT department by supplying them with the lamp's MAC ID. They will then add the lamp to an 'allowed list' so the lamp can connect.

Sometimes, this can be done through a college intranet portal.

Once the lamp is successfully registered to the college WiFi, you can try setting up the lamp as usual.

Where is the MAC ID?

You will find the MAC address printed on the sticker on the base, or you can send a us a photo of the base so that we can check and confirm what it is.  Please do get in touch with our team via our contact form and we can help you further.

My LuvLink Friendship Lamp is Stuck on Purple!

If you are at college and your Friendship Lamp is stuck on purple, you'll need to bring it back to the dim red setup mode.  To do this, please take the lamp outside of the College WiFi range so that it goes back to the dim red setup mode - you can plug the lamp into a PC or Mac to see it change the color.

Then, connect your lamp to a mobile hotspot temporarily before bringing it back to college.  Disconnect from the hotspot and if your lamp has been registered successfully with the college, you will then be able to connect to the College / public WiFi.

If you're still having trouble connecting at college, please use our contact form so that we can further assist you.
