Connecting Your Friendship Lamp at College

Ready to connect your LuvLink Friendship Lamp at college? You've come to the right place and we're here to help you get connected to your school's WiFi network in no time!

To begin, just plug your Friendship Lamp into a power outlet and follow the App Setup Guide to connect it to your WiFi. That’s usually all it takes! But if you’re on a college campus or using a shared public network, there might be a couple of extra steps needed due to network restrictions.

No worries though — we’ve got you covered. Whether you’re super techy or totally new to this kind of thing, the steps below will help you get your lamp up and glowing in no time.

Where is the MAC ID?

You’ll find the MAC address printed on a sticker on the base of your LuvLink Friendship lamp — it looks like a string of letters and numbers labeled as the MAC ID. If you're not sure you're reading it right, feel free to snap a photo of the base and send it to us through our contact form. We’ll help confirm it and make sure you have the right info to give your school.

My LuvLink Friendship Lamp is Stuck on Purple at College!

If you are at college, or connecting to a public/ shared WiFi networks, and your LuvLink Friendship Lamp is stuck on purple —run a quick check on the following details:

  • The MAC ID is successfully registered with the college IT department, or the WiFi administrator.
  • The college or public WiFi network is on 2.4GHz band.

Once you have confirmed all these are correct, you'll need to bring it back to the dim red setup mode and reconnect this on the app.  To do this, please take the lamp out of range of the College WiFi range so that it goes back to the dim red setup mode —you can plug the lamp into a PC or Mac to see it change the color.

Then, connect your Friendship Lamp to a mobile hotspot temporarily before bringing it back to college.  Finally, disconnect from the hotspot and if your lamp has been registered successfully with the college, you will then be able to connect to the college / public WiFi.

If you're still having trouble connecting at college, please use our Contact Form so that we can further assist you.
