The LuvLink Friendship Lamps are designed to work through WiFi, meaning a strong and stable connection is essential for a smooth setup and keeping everything working perfectly. The lamp uses WiFi to stay online and in sync with all the other Friendship Lamps in your group, allowing for a seamless and instant exchange of colors whenever you send a touch.
If the lamp gets disconnected from the WiFi, it will glow a dim red light — it won’t respond to touch or receive colors from the group until it’s back online.
To get your Friendship Lamp reconnected and out of the dim red setup mode, please refer to the full App Setup Guide linked below:

Once everything is set up, your Friendship Lamp will be ready to light up and stay connected with your loved ones. Keep reading for easy steps to get your lamp online and keep it working smoothly.
If you run into any issues during setup and the lamp stays in the dim red WiFi setup mode, it’s a good idea to check your WiFi settings — this can help rule out any compatibility issues that might be preventing the lamp from connecting to your WiFi network.
Here's a Quick Guide for Checking Your WiFi Settings
✅ Your WiFi is 2.4GHz (not 5GHz)
✅ Your WiFi security is WPA
✅ Your WiFi network name (SSID) is visible (not hidden)
✅ The WiFi password is correct
✅ Your router isn't blocking new devices
1. Your WiFi is 2.4GHz (not 5GHz)
The LuvLink Friendship Lamp needs a 2.4GHz WiFi connection to work properly. This type of WiFi has a longer range and passes through walls better than 5GHz, which makes it perfect for smart home devices like the Friendship Lamp. While 5GHz is faster, it doesn’t reach as far, which could cause connection issues for the lamp.
Many modern routers offer both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, and sometimes they combine them under one network name (called a dual-band setup). If that’s the case, try splitting them into two separate SSID or WiFi names so you can choose the 2.4GHz band during setup.
The LuvLink App should automatically detect your WiFi network name if it is on 2.4GHz band.
2. Your WiFi security is WPA
The LuvLink Friendship Lamp works best with WPA or WPA2 Personal WiFi security settings — these are standard for most home networks and are fully compatible.
Just a heads-up — if your network is set to WPA2 Enterprise (which is more common in office or corporate environments), the lamp won’t be able to connect unless you have registered the MAC ID to the WiFi network.

3. Your WiFi network name (SSID) is visible (not hidden)
When setting up your LuvLink Friendship Lamp, the LuvLink App will scan for available WiFi networks and display them in a list — just like when you connect your phone or tablet to WiFi. You should see your home network (also known as the SSID) appear there, and from there, you simply tap it and enter your password.
If your network doesn’t show up, it’s possible that your WiFi name is hidden. Some routers have this setting enabled for extra privacy, but it can prevent the app from detecting your network during setup. To fix this, you’ll need to log in to your router’s settings and make sure the SSID is visible — even if it’s just temporarily while you complete the setup. If you’re not sure how to access your router settings, your internet provider can usually help walk you through it.
Making your network name visible ensures the app can find your WiFi and helps your Friendship Lamp connect smoothly.
4. The WiFi password is correct
It might sound simple, but entering the correct WiFi password is a key part of getting your LuvLink Friendship Lamp connected. WiFi passwords are case-sensitive, which means capital and lowercase letters must be entered exactly as they appear — mistyping the password could cause an error and and the setup will fail.
To help with this, the LuvLink App has a password visibility toggle (the little eye) next to the password field. You can tap this to reveal the password as you type, so you can double-check everything before hitting 'Save'. This is a quick and easy way to avoid typing mistakes, especially if your password has a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Taking a moment to carefully enter and check your password can save a lot of setup frustration and help your Friendship Lamp connect on the first try!
5. Your Router Isn't Blocking New Devices
In addition to the above, it’s also worth checking if your router has any security restrictions that might be blocking it. Some routers use a feature called MAC address filtering, which limits which devices can connect. If this is turned on, you’ll need to add your LuvLink Friendship Lamp’s MAC ID to the allowed list of devices. You can usually find the MAC ID either on the bottom of the lamp or inside the LuvLink App.
To do this, you’ll need to log into your router settings. Just type your router’s IP address into your web browser, log in as the admin, and look for the MAC filtering section. If that sounds a bit tricky, your internet provider should be able to help guide you through it.
You can usually find your WiFi details — like the network name (SSID) and password, security type, and even your router's IP address — on a label attached to your router, often on the bottom or back. You can also check your WiFi settings that appears directly on your phone, tablet, or computer. And if you're not quite sure what to look for, your internet service provider can help confirm the right settings.
