Why is My Lamp Stuck on Yellow?

Setting up your LuvLink Friendship Lamp is usually quick and easy—but sometimes, things don’t go as expected. One of the most common issues new users run into is a lamp that is stuck on yellow.

While it might seem confusing at first, the yellow light typically points to something simple—and it's often easy to fix.

In this guide, we’ll explain what the yellow light means, what might be causing it, and how to get your lamp connected so you can start lighting up your loved ones' day.

What Causes a Yellow Lamp? Here's What to Check

Your LuvLink Friendship Lamp Is Awaiting Approval from the Group Admin

What’s Happening: The lamp is pending approval to join the group.

How to Fix:

  • Double-check that the correct GroupID was entered during setup—use all lowercase letters, with no spaces.
  • Reach out to the group admin to ensure they received the request and can approve it in the app.
  • If the admin doesn't see the pending request, the GroupID may have been entered incorrectly.

In any case that your Friendship Lamp is stuck on yellow because of an incorrect GroupID, the best course would be to go back to  the dim red setup mode —the lamp is dim red— and start again with the setup via '+ Add Device' on the App.

For the Classic and Modern LuvLink Friendship Lamp, touch and hold down on the top sensor plate for as long as three to five minutes, or until it turns dim red. Note that the lamp may not cycle through the many different color options as it usually does, but it will eventually settle on dim red when held down on the tp for that long.

For the LuvLink Infinity Range, you will need to insert a pin into the 'Reset' pinhole found underneath the lamp to bring it back to the dim red setup mode. The lamp will glow a rainbow color before settling on dim red.

The WiFi Is Dropping Out

What’s Happening: The lamp may have lost connection to the internet, possibly due to a network issue or router change.

How to Fix:

  • Check that your home WiFi is working properly.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in.
  • Unplug your lamp, then plug it back in.
  • If needed, reset the lamp to dim red mode by holding your finger on the touchpad for 3–5 minutes. Then, restart the setup process through the LuvLink app.

A Power Supply Issue

What’s Happening: A weak or unstable power supply can cause the lamp to malfunction or freeze in yellow.

How to Fix:

  • Try a different wall outlet or USB charging brick.
  • Use a high-quality adapter and cable to ensure the lamp is receiving enough power.

If you've confirmed that the GroupID is correct, the lamp has been approved, and both your WiFi and power supply are stable—but the Friendship Lamp is still stuck on yellow—then, it’s time to reach out to LuvLink Support. Just fill in this contact form so that our team can check your lamp remotely and, in many cases, resolve the issue from the backend.
